Wiki Date of Service for Labs performed in MD office

Patient comes in to the office and MD orders a CBC on Day 1. On Day 3 MD comes back and orders another lab test to be done on the same lab specimen to prevent from having to have the patient to come back in. What is the date of service for Day 3 order?

I don't know of any lab that would repeat a cbc on a sample that is 3 days old. however, it sounds like the DOS should be on the 3rd date.

CMS has a MLN on this and basically the dos would be the date the test is run.
