Good afternoon.
Can some of you out there tell me what you procedure is for coding Cyst, Lesion or Mole removals as far as diagnosis coding goes for facilities?
I work for a hospital, and our physician's in there offices will either do a biopsy or remove the said above, and the specimen is then sent over to our lab processing area. A path report is most likely generated and sent back to the Physician with it's findings.
From the lab coding prospective when I get that 1 order....should I be waiting to code this encounter until I see the results of the Path. report and code the findings from that (I am not coding the Physician's end only the facilities)? Any information would be post helpful and if there are any sites out there that anyone can think of to validate we should be doing this would be most greatful. I have not had much luck in finding anything absolute.
