In our practice the question of whether a c/d ratio is required for billing purposes as far as insurance requirements for an eye exam. Does anyone have any helpful info regarding this?

C/D ratio is an eye exam 'bullet' (dilated exam of optic disks) for E/M (92001-99215)code selection-that's all
For Eye (92002-92014) code selection full SLE give you intermediate and full SLT/OM/CVF -AND- (for most insurance carriers) a dilated Fundus exam. It doesn't specifically state both the optic disks(C/D ratio) and the posterior segments must be examined. Normally if glaucoma suspect, papilledema, etc are being investigated you you probably want to take a good look at the optic disks
