Hello,
Does any one have a good place to get info for CRNA billing? We have some CRNAs that we bill for and I do not quite understand how to bill if a MD was directing the CRNA, supervising or if the CRNA was not being directed by a MD. We have multi people who code this, and it seems like we are not on the same page on this. So, if some one has something that is documented that can support the correct way to code, that would be great.

I have done some research and it has been a bit of a overload for me and I am now confused.

How about a good webinar or link to "how to code CRNA anesthesia"?

Any help is appreciated. Have a great day. :)

On the CRNA claim there are two possible modifiers for medical direction.

If the CRNA is being medically directed by an anesthesiologist you bill - QX
If the CRNA is not being medically directed you bill - QZ

On the Doctor Claim there are a few more.

Dr. Medically directing 1 CRNA - QY
Dr. Medically directing 2-4 CRNA's - QK
Dr. Personally providing (0 CRNA's) - AA
Dr. Supervising more than 4 CRNA's - AD (notice the term medical direction is not applied here)

These Definitions are available in HCPCS level II
