E.D. Physician A, documented and performed critical care for a critically ill patient and included 40 min. spent in CC. Phys A left work.
Phys B assumes care, documents spoke with the hospitalist for admission, no time documented or indication of additional interventions.

Should 99291 be billed as Phys A, who met the code criteria, or Phys B who assumed care?

Physician A

Physician A provided and documented the Critical Care. Physician B essentially did administrative work. it would help physician A if he signed off on the CC time. But physician A sounds right to me.
