Need some help here, provider is asking if there is a CPT code to reflect the work needed to prepare the allograft to fill a sizeable defect left after ORIF of a pilon fracture. I have done some reading, and all I come up with are codes when it pertains to spinal procedures. Any thoughts on this please? Pertinent portion of the Op report is below:
"There were loose fragments present which were removed and later placed in the cavities. The shaft of the tibia was also removed, which was comminuted.
At this time a variable axial locking plate from the Synthes set for the affected left tibia was utilized on the medial aspect. At this time, the alignment and position appeared to be good. Before this was done, Allograft which was placed in a clot master solution was placed in the cavities both medial and laterally. The chips were macerated as to fill adequately and impacted in. There appeared to be no gaps noted. After this was done, approximately 10 ml of Allograft was utilized."
