One of our physicians has a patient with a penile prosthesis, the patient is having pain and the physician wants to do a manipulation of the prosthesis under anesthesia (no incision, no repair)
I can't find a code that evens comes close..any thoughts/ideas on a CPT code very much appreciated

Hello RebeccaB,

There are quiet a few different codes for penile prosthesis but I'm sure as you know not one for manipulation under anesthesia. My thought is to send in the notes and go with CPT 55899 unlisted procedure, male genital system.

Hi, that was my thought also, just wanted to see if there were any other options since UHC is such a pain about unlisted codes

I hear you on that one :( It probably stems from to many unlisted codes being billed unnecessarily. I think you would be okay going with unlisted for the procedure you have described though :)
