Wiki CPT Code 99242 ASC Assistance Please

would it be appropriate to bill 99242 when outpatient radio frequency ablation is being determined in a office setting (POS 11) and then performed in an ASC setting (POS 24) on the same day by the physician who determined services were necessary. The physician has impression that this would ONLY be used if there was a referral from another provider and/or there was a coordination of care with another provider, but the description "counseling and/"or"........" is what is questioned. Thank you for any input

Doctor would be right in his/her thinking. A consultation is a type of E/M service provided by a physician at the request of another physician or appropriate source to either recommend care for a specific problem or to determine whether or not to treat said patient.
