The cpt code 44005, is there a time limit on this procedure? I do have a doctor that did put in 80 minutes time, but he did only code this 44005?

I was audited and the person auditing me stated that a modifier 22 should have been attached to the cpt code 44005?

Could anyone let me know if that is incorrect or if there is no time limit on this procedure.

Time by itself is not enough to justify adding modifier 22 to a procedure unless the CPT book tells you to. There has to be documentation that justifies why it was above and beyond what is normally required to complete the procedure.
