This is my question, pt had ankle fracture treated 27829 with screws and plates placed, about 1 year later patient comes back in still having stiffness and per X-ray she had one remaining screw intact and two broken screws across the syndesmosis. Pt prevents for implant removal and syndemosis repair with Zip Tight loop.
Insurance is denying 27829 states procedure not documented this is what te MD documented:
A Zip Tight was place in the most distal of the three syndesmosis screws, his gave good stability of the syndesmosis without completely restricting it.
Is this not sufficient enough? Or is there another code that should have been billed? We billed also for Implant removal 20680.
Any input is appreciated.
