I have a situation where my provider was the co-surgeon on a surgery with the 44141 and also a total abdominal hyst was performed. From what I have found the modifier 62 can be used but I am being told it cannot. The documentation supports the co-surgeon status. Can someone clarify this for me or send me in the right direction.

Thanks so much

Bonnie

Modifier 62

If the physicians worked together on the procedure and your documentation clearly states each physicians participation in the surgery and what each physician did, you can bill with the 62 modifier. In Ohio, the insurance companies want both surgeons to authenticate or sign each op report. Hope this helps. Anna
