I have a unusual situation of codes 29875 and 29874 being billed together.

CPT code 29875 has an edit against 29874. CPT code 29874 states removal of loose or foeign body. In my case, 29874 is done in the PF compartment for bullet fragments as the foreign body and 29875 was performed in the medial and lateral compartments for synovium. CPT code 29875 has an RVU of 14.79 and CPT code 29874 has an higher RVU of 16.04. In most cases, the higher RVU which is 29874 would be the primary procedure and 29875 would be the secondary procedure; however, with the edit being against the billing of 29874 with 29875...will this make a differance. Would code 29874 have to be billed with a G0289? The payer is Medicare. How would we bill for this code combination?

Thank you for all of the help!!! :D
