Is anyone coding 28293 (implant into MTJ) with the dx of 735.8 (Hallux Limitus)?

The Ingenix coding companion lists 735.8 in the same diagnostic range as Hallux Valgus with implant CPT. Dr. Harry Goldsmith is approves of this combo when you also have some sort of bone formation (e.g., bulge, lipping, or prominence of bone) and you treat it.

In my case, a bone saw removed medial and dorsal osteophytes from the head of metatarsal and base of the phalanx. Then he made the cuts to make room for the implants.

Thoughts? :D

We have also done these implant procedures, but unless there is a bunionectomy component to the procedure then using 28899 (unlisted proc., foot or toes) is more appropriate.
Question for you - do you bill for the metalic implants, and have you had success being reimbursed?
