When a colonoscopy and EGD are performed togethor, what modifier is the best to append?

You don't need a modifier. The insurance company you are billing may reduce the EGD due to the multiple surgery rule.

Or, you could also put a 51 on the EGD to indicate multiple procedure. Some say its not necessary but it wouldn't hurt if you put it on.

That's what I've been doing since I've had some ins companies reduce the more expensive colonoscopy. Thank you!!!
