I am biller/coder for an urgent care in PA. We are seeing a lot of people come in that need notes to return to work that states they are free of viral communicable disease, after returning from a trip/or possible exposure to someone that tested positive for coronavirus. The diagnosis code is Z20.828 -contact with or exposure to viral communicable disease. We are not performing any lab testing, just an evaluation and management (office visit), patient is examined-no signs or symptoms indicated. I am worried about the z code as principal listed diagnosis, anyone have input how insurances may process claims? I know each insurance has own guidelines, but just generally speaking. Thanks.
