Wiki Counting Data Points for E/M

If a physician documents that he visualized the CT Films and imports the radiologists report would you count the 2 points for Independent review of image? Also, are there any points given when a provider speaks with another PCP/Admitting provider?

The provider should get 1 data point for discussing the case with another provider (usually when ours do it is for advice or direction for treatment). Or if they discuss a test with the performing physician. As long as it is documented that it occurred and the findings are summarized.


If the provider actually visualized the image, tracing or specimen (not simply review report and copy in his notes) yes then he gets 2 pts. As long as he states that in his note.
