Hi,

I work as a professional coder at a pediatrician office. I have following situation which needs to be correctly coded.

Established patient(age 2yrs) encountered for well visit checkup. During the checkup Dr. performed developmental screening.

We are coding:

CPT ICD9
Well visit checkup 99392 V20.2
Developmental screening 96110-25 V79.3 -> modifier 25 is being used with screening code.

I do not think modifier 25 should be associated with 99110.

Please let me know if this is correct way of coding this situation or there should be additional EM code with 25 modifier should be used.

Our office bills with a 25 on the office visit and for some insurances, such as Cigna, they will pay with a 59 on the 96110 (if appropriate).

We code developmental (96110) with preventative visits without any modifiers. All of our carriers cover it (including Cigna).
