Patient had a total knee replacement. Post-operative, the patient was place on a Diluadid PCA, but also has an adductor canal anesthesia on a pump of Ropivacaine 0.2% at 10ml/hr.

I am not sure how to code/bill for the daily management of the adductor canal anesthesia - would it be 99232 for subsequent hospital care (the doctor is dictating an entire note), or 01999 for unlisted anesthesia procedure? There is code 01996, Daily hospital management of epidural or subarachnoid continuous drug administration, but this is similar but not the same, which makes me lean toward 01996.

If you do these - how do you code and bill for the daily monitoring/management? Does the anesthesiologist remove the catheter?

***** Additional information - can 64448 be billed on a daily basis while catheter is in place and anesthesia is monitoring?

Thank you in advance,
Rena
