Dr sees an inpatient at the request of the patients pcp for a non-operative greater trochanter fracture. A consult was charged, pt was see 3 weeks later for follow up, doing well, return 3 months. Dr now wants to go back and change the consult to fracture care. Can this be done?
 
If he "took over" treating the fracture, then yes, he could bill fracture care. However, I would really advise against it at this point. The problems that it would create would not be worth it.
