The Dr I work for has his own specialty practice and was called to do a allergy consult in the hospital. The patient was already admitted when he evaluated her. What E/M code should I use for the consult at the hospital?

Also, I just saw she has Medicare..
You would code that using CPT 99221-99223 based on his documentation for the initial consult, since Medicare does not reimburse consult codes. If he see the patient in follow up you would code using CPT codes 99231-99233.

Okay thanks! Those are the codes I was going to use, I have never billed hospital codes.
