Wiki Consult billed under pa

Just checking to see if you can use the consult codes ie... 99244 and bill under the PA? situation is this... pt is referred for cardiothoracic issues... see the Dr. in consult and then the PA does a full H&P on the same date of service as the decission for surgery has been made. I would just bill for a high level consult under the Dr. for this... but we have someone else billing the consult under the PA??? Help...

The minute you assume care of that patient (follow ups etc) you can no longer bill consultation codes. So, if the DR saw the pt, and in the documentation states to "follow up with me in two weeks." or does surgery, you cannot bill a consult.
