Patient is during her 90 day global period for irrigation and debridement with excision of an infected olecranon bursa. Two weeks after primary procedure patient presented to the office with drainage from the wound site and scheduled this patient for another irrigation and debridement of the infected olecranon bursa. My question is since the procedure was done on the same day as the visit could the office visit be billed as done in the office along with procedure that was performed at an outpatient hospital? Or am I only allowed to bill for the repeat procedure? This insurance is the AARP through United healthcare it is a Medicare replacement policy. I will greatly appreciate the help.

Thank you,

Angie P

complications are considered a part of global unless the patient needs additional procedure, you can bill the procedure only with the appropriate modifier.
