Hello,
I have a plastic surgeon who did an excision left lower lip mass.
op note reads:
The patient is brought to the operating room and after adequate anesthesia, patient was prepped and draped in the usual sterile manner. I excised the mass in a vertical line, following Langers line. Meticulous hemostasis was obtained. The wound was closed in 2 layers. The sub-Q layer was closed using 5-0 Vicryl and the skin was closed using 5-0 chromic. .

Physician is clding this as a complex closure. I see an intermediate closure.
Input please.
Thank you
Paula

By AMA CPT-4 def., complex repair includes wounds requiring more than layered closure - scar revision, debridement, extensive undermining, stents, or retention sutures. This appears to be a 'clean' repair, requiring two layers of suture, as stated. Which to me, aligns with an intermediate repair.
