I have a physician who did a colon in the am and the patient went to the ER later in the day for fever. The physician who did the procedure went to the ER and saw the patient and states in his dictation that "he does not suspect any complications related to the procedure". He also has in dictation that "based on the events during the procedure where the patient did have significant regurgitiation from his nose and need for bagging through a mask, concern for aspiration was discussed with the ER doctor and chest x-ray was ordered. ER doc ordered antibiotics for the patient and they were to follow up with PCP.
My question is my doctor wants to charge for the consult in the ER is this something that I can charge for since he does not believe the fever was caused by the procedure?
Thanks
