Will someone be able to help me code the following fracture codes in bold:
1. Stable chronic T12 burst fracture, with near complete loss of height centrally, mild retropulsion and associated angled kyphotic deformity.
2. L2 compression fracture, with 80% loss of height and mild angled kyphotic deformity, is stable compared to the CT lumbar spine dated 5/1/2022 and has decreased in height compared to the thoracic spine radiographs dated 3/5/2021.
3. The L3 compression fracture, with vertical and horizontal components and 50% loss of height centrally, has decreased in height compared to the CT lumbar spine dated 5/1/2022.
Would I use a chronic fracture code for T12 (M84.48XD) and a traumatic fracture code for the lumbar fractures? The is an Excludes 1 note stating that M84.48XD cannot be used with traumatic fracture codes. Could someone please help explain how to code this scenario? Also, I am coding for an admission to a SNF so that is why I am using a seventh character D.
Thank you
