This was coded as a 99203-25, 12001(59) and 12002 (59) Medicare is denying the 12001, but paying on 12002. Do we add all lengths and code one laceration suture repair???????

LACERATION REPAIR:
HISTORY: pt fell holding a vase and glass broke in hand, ETOH on board
TETANUS:__ If greater than 5 years is Td given:pt to go to health department tomorrow to obtain vaccination
SIZE: laceration 1-thumb laceration 3.5cm, laceration 2-4th finger laceration 1.5cm
LOCATION:laceration 1- lateral palmar left hand at base of 1st metacarpal, laceration 2-palmar surface of 4th finger overlying distal phalange

PROCEDURE:After wound prep and cleansing under sterile conditions the wound was closed with appropriate suture above in a continuous:___ interrupted:laceration 1- 9 interrupted sutures, laceration 2- 3 interrupted sutures There were not any complications and anatomic restoration was accomplished.
 
when the laceration repairs are of the same type (simple, intermediate) and in the same defined area then you do add the lengths together to code one repair code
