Hi everyone,

I have done a lot of research, but can not find a clear answer so was looking for any guidance here : )

My pediatric provider performs a 92567 (Tympanometry test) quite often.

Many times the patient has a negative test result, but the office will try and code H65.93 (Unspecified nonsuppurative otitis media …… bilateral).
From my understanding a negative result can not yeild this diagnosis? Am I incorrect with this thought?

Furthermore, the provider will state patient has fever and sore throat and will perform 92567. If the test is negative the reason for the testing should be coded as the dx code, correct?

Any additional information is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Michelle
