Our Local Determination - Novitas (L33648) - greatly reduced what diagnosis they will allow for billing out the 20552 and 20553 trigger point injections. This was effective 12/1/13. According to the LCD, the diagnosis' covered is limited to cervical, back, and shoulder region. How are people coding the 20552 or 20553 trigger point when it is done in the elbow or finger? Are they using different procedure codes to report this now? Please help!
