Can you code a claim with the ICD-9 for FLU if the patient has not had a positive culture for the Flu?

What is the DX from the physician Flu? If not and the results were negative code the signs and symptoms.

since the coder may not code from a lab result regardless of whether it is positive or negative, the dx code depends on the providers documentation.
