Hi,
Several of my Cardiac Surgeons are now documenting the 'insertion of the HD catheter for monitoring' for patient during open heart surgery (ie...CABGS, VALVES)
I have always believed it was bundled with the primary CPT, just as placing a patient on cardiopulmonary bypass is included with the primary CPT code.
Am I incorrect in my thinking? CPT 36620 is listed as a 'separate procedure' and I would need to add the modifier 59 to unbundle it.
If anyone has any documentation or can direct me to documentation that I can show my surgeons it would be much appreciated!!
Thank you!
Terri
