Wiki Coding for adjacent tissue transfer

I have a question about calculating the square cm for an adjacent tissue transfer via double apposing scalp flaps based upon the right temporal and left occipital areas, measuring 40 x 15 cm. My question is when measuring for the sq. cm of the reported excision size do you multiply or add? My CPT book looks like you would add 40 +15 cm to get 55 sq. cm. I am confused on whether I am adding this up correct. I am being told that you have to multiply and that gives me a measurement that exceeds any allowable amt I can bill.

Hello,

Remember its Length times width in cm for the area then repairs are coded by adding the area. Just remember that repairs need to be in the same area to add them together.
Are you working with the 14xxx codes? Hope this helps
