Wiki coding E/M for Walk In and ER same day

I am looking for documentation. If patient comes into Walk In, seen breifly by physician, and is then sent to ER can an E/M be billed for both the Walk In physician (PAC) and the ER physician? Please e-mail with any direction.

Same specialty Same practice?

Are the two visits performed by providers who are in the same practice and of the same specialty?

If the answer is YES, then you combine all documentation to code the level of service (probably ER).

If the answer is NO, then you bill each provider's charges as per his/her documentation.
