I code for a perinatologist and I have a question. When a patient has twins, he checks their cervical length measurement by ultrasound transvaginally every 2 weeks up to a certain point. There is a code, V28.82, Screening for risk of preterm labor, but it doesn't seem appropriate to assign a screening code every two weeks. I have therefore just been assigning the twin codes when reporting a 76817 transvaginal ultrasound for cervical length measurement.
Is there a better diagnosis code for cervical length measurement when it's done so regularly? (He always does a 76816 ultrasound at the same time for each twin.)
Thank you,
