Quite frequently, our office will receive referrals from other physicians in our area for what they are calling "screening" colonoscopy. On reviewing the records, however, we discover symptoms, etc.
The one that has come up several times in the past few weeks especially is a patient being referred "to discuss interval screening colonoscopy, having a history of diverticulosis" (or hemorrhoids or whatever the case may be).
I'm trying to come up with the codes to properly bill the E&M (if it CAN be billed) and what order.
