I am trying to determine the code for reading a SPECT image. What code is needed for a radiologist to bill for reading/interpreting the image?
I have the following codes for SPECT brain imaging:
78607 Brain imaging, tomographic (SPECT)
78800 Radiopharmaceutical localization of tumor or distribution of radiopharmaceutical agent(s) limited area
78803 (add on code to 78800) Tomographic (SPECT)
I thought it would be this: CPT Code 76376: 3D rendering with interpretation and reporting of computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, or other tomographic modality; not requiring image postprocessing on an independent workstation.
But this document specifically says not to use that code: http://www.gehealthcare.com/usen/community/reimbursement/docs/SPECT_for_Tumor_Imaging_2.12.09.pdf
Help is very appreciated. Thank you.
