We are in Co-Management with an MD. On my claim (optometrist) I have the correct modifiers and place of service... the only question that has come up is the billed amount. I have always used the surgeons billed amount so that I can "mirror" the claim. With the -55 modifier and my notes in box 19... it tells the insurance company that we are co-managing and the insurance company calculates accordingly so we get paid for the number of days left in global. Today, I had a surgeons office refuse to give me the billed charge and told me I was doing it wrong. Have I been doing it wrong? What would I put in for a billed amount if I don't know how much the surgeon billed?
