provider puts diagnosis as non-healing skin lesion of nose. provider also codes this as L98.9. Why wouldnt it be L98.8? to me the provider did specify that it is a non-healing skin lesion. its not an unspecified lesion.

It is unspecified since the origin or cause or type of lesion is not known or specified. If the provider has more information it might change the code. In other words is this related to an injury or is it a non pressure ulcer, this is what makes it unspecified for the code. Other would be if the provider indicated a type or origin that has no other specific code.
