Pt is in the ER being admitted. Our Dr is called in for a consult. He sees them in the ER because patient has not been transported to room yet. Is consult billed as inpatient code or ER code? Our Dr is not the admitting Dr.
If pt is seen in the ER by your provider, then an outpatient visit would be used as MCR does not recognize consult codes. You would use AI as the principal Physician of record.
