When a patient is newly diagnosed with hypertension (patient is expected to have for one year or the rest of their life - chronic) and the provider writes a prescription for the hypertension. Is the hypertension considered a chronic illness with exacerbation even though it is newly diagnosed?

Even if newly diagnosed, if the condition is expected to last at least 1 year, then it is chronic, not acute.
I will assume since this is newly diagnosed that the patient likely has elevated BP levels, therefore not stable. If so, then I would call this 1 chronic illness with exacerbation.
