Similar situation with your other question, you cannot bill for a service not provided. There are modifiers for discontinued procedures but they all specific exclude the situation of an elective cancellation prior to the start of the preparation for the procedure. You can charge a no show fee to a patient who cancels with insufficient notice if you have an office policy and the patient has been informed in advance, but it's important to weigh the customer service aspect of doing this against the potential benefits. In my experience, no show fees are difficult to collect at best.
