Hi,
I'm wondering if I can charge for aspiration.
This is the part of the op note:
"The hernia sac was opened and it became clear that the herniated contents were solely ascite fluid. There was no viscera within the hernia. The fascial defect was dilated slightly enough to allo the passage of a poll suction. A total of 4,750 ml of ascitic fluid was removed. The patient's anterior aabdominal wall was relative flaccid and atonic. The fascial defect was very focal and I simply closed it primarily without any tension whatsoever. "
Can I charge for aspiration of the fluid in addition to the epigastric hernia repair and if I can what code would I be looking at.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
