Wiki CDC - Tdap Coverage for 65 and Over

Hi -

In February 2012 the CDC recommended that the Tdap be used in patients aged 65 and over.

Is anyone else billing for this and getting paid by Medicare? I do have an email into our contractor, Novitas, but am waiting for a reply

I am looking for this information too. Our physicians are thinking that since the CDC is recomending this that they should be covered but, when I look on the CMS website I have not found anything stating that Medicare will cover these.

The Tdap vaccine is covered under Medicare part D. A patient can obtain the vaccine at his/her local pharmacy, and the pharmacy can bill the patient's Medicare part D plan directly for reimbursement. Or, the patient can receive the vaccine at the doctor's office, but he/she will be responsible for paying the cost of the vaccine and administration fee up front to the doctor and then will have to file a claim to their part D plan for reimbursement.
