Could someone please offer me advise. When a pt goes in for a elective cardioversion I use 92960, but what if pt comes in through the ER or is an IP in the hospital and has to be cardioverted. What code would you use then?
According to what I have read there needs to be a consent signed. Thanks for any help.
 
any "elective" cardioversion would be billed with the 92960 no matter the place of service. this is never billable in an acute situation, our EP docs sometimes do this during an a-fib ablation once pulmonary vein isolation is complete but the patient hasn't jumped back into sinus rhythm. that is not billable, even before CCI edits blocked it
