Hello. Can someone assist me with correct coding for a cardioversion in the ED, as I'm unable to find any information regarding the use of this code per encounter? (Including CPT Assistant) My ED provider attempted a cardioversion 3x, each with a different shock(Joule) amount trying to get patient into sinus rhythm. There were 3 attempts in the same visit, do I code 92960, 92960-76, and 92960-76 for the 3 seperate attempts at the various Joule powers? OR...do I only code it once, no matter how many separate attempts and powers they tried? There is nothing out there regarding how many times this can be coded in the same charge session/visit. Please supply the link in which you have found the information if any. Thank you for your help.
