Bypass is usually performed by a technician (a perfusionist) and not a physician, so to my knowledge there are no professional charges associated with this service. Since these are usually inpatient procedures, the costs of the bypass would be billed by the hospital, usually included as part of the OR charges. Reimbursement would be included in the DRG payment. Are you looking for a different way to bill it than this, or are you talking about some other component of the procedure? I may not be completely understanding what you’re looking for here.
