If a patient gives himself an injection, but does so in our office under our supervision (because we are teaching him how to do it), can we bill the injection code?
 
That article was penned in 2009. There are newer codes (not sure of the implementation date) for just this purpose.. look at 98960 which is for education and training for patient self management. It is for qualified non physician personnel that are appropriately trained to pass on training to patients for this type of need. You should read the info in the code book for these codes and if you meet these qualifications, these are better than the 99211 in my opinion.
 
I originally thought of 98960 but it is not on the Medicare F/S, so I googled alternatives and found that article.
