Hi. I'm VERY new at coding (a student in college), doing some homework exercises, and need help with this question.

A patient had an EGD done. After the endoscope was withdrawn, a #60 French Maloney dilator was passed to dilate a reformed Schatzki's ring. I chose codes 43235 for the EGD and thought I should also code the dilation, so I chose code 43450. Is that right?

Thanks.

hospital vs ASC

The ASC I work for occasionally has to do coding for inpatients. I was told for inpatient you can not code both the Diagnostic Eno with the balloon dilitation. Is there a difference with hospital Vs ASC? I have also notices some ins company's won't pay for both.

ASC, Hosp, Physician, You do not code the diagnostic EGD once a procedure has been performed via that same approach. You code only the definitive procedure in this case the dilation. There should be a CCI edit for this as well.
