Wiki Can I hire a coder for a one-time job?

Hello,

Is there an option to hire a coder to review radiation oncology codes?

Some coders do contract work on a project or per diem basis.

You'd want to hire someone with specific experience coding radiation oncology. It's a niche subspecialty with many rules and nuances for applying the codes.

There are a few groups that do consulting for radiation oncology coding. RCCS and AMAC are 2 groups off the top of my head that offer education and consulting in rad onc coding. I'm sure there are others too.

AMAC does radiation oncology coding consulting and education. They also offer the ROCC (Radiation Oncology Certified Coder) credential, which I will take soon at my employer's request.

RCCS publishes the Navigator for Radiation Oncology coding books, in addition to having coding education and consulting. Teri Bedard of RCCS is a fantastic rad onc educator - I've seen her present in person twice and a few times online as well.

If you're not looking for a consultant and just want a coder, you can try looking in this Facebook group to find someone with rad onc experience: https://www.facebook.com/groups/radiationoncologycoders
