The doctor did an ERCP on a patient in the am as an outpt procedure the patient was admitted to the hospital about an hour after the procedure due to increased abd pain. We have been consistently been seeing this patient all summer for abd pain and bile duct leak the doctor wants to charge a consult for the admission can I do this since this is a diagnosis that we have been treating all along? What would be the appropriate thing to charge if any? and would I put a modifier 25 on it?
