Patient had knee surgery 1 week prior to this post op visit. This does not appear to me to be a routine post op visit. Would like to know if this visit can be billed?

Dictated chart notes:

Patient Name
DOS: 00-00-00

IH: The patient comes in for a post op visit of left knee. He says he has really been
pushing it and doing a lot of work and walking. He thinks he has overdone it.

PE: On examination, he has no effusion. There is pain in the calf. He has mild
tenderness and minimal swelling. The knee has minimal swelling.

PLAN: I want to do a Venous Doppler to check for a DVT. I renewed Norco [pain RX]
and write an RX for Relafen. He will check back in the office in 1-2 weeks.
"Order written for Venous Doppler"

Dr. Name

Since he's in global, it can't even though it seems as though the doctor has done more work than would be expected at a 1 week post-op visit. All you could bill would be x-rays and injections/aspirations, if any had been done/given. I've even had patients fall on their replacement during their global period and all I could bill for was an x-ray.
